Process

You will be part of a group of directors. Each group has its own company as Board Simulation. In this group you will experience several different periods in the simulation. With coins and boxes you will understand how values move inside the company. It will be an interactive sesion where you have to do all movements on the board. At the end of a period you will calculate your annual result and the related KPIs.

Benefits

With the help of the simulation it will be a highly interactive session. You will have the chance to "grab" entrepreneurial competence.

Scientific Writing Workshops

SAOT students have the opportunity to have their own paper (ca. 10 pages) edited by a native speaker of English and peer reviewed in a small group of students. Two dates have been set for the coming months, however, additional workshops can be arranged whenever ca. 4 students have a paper, poster or presentation ready for submission. Just send an email to Sheila Regan (sheila@uni-works.de) to organize possible dates.

Communication Skills for Researchers

These two workshops on oral (rather than written) communication will boost your confidence in speaking English, support you in making useful professional contacts, and help you to present your research more effectively. The workshops each have a different focus and can be taken individually, but it is helpful to do both.

How to survive in a job interview

16th May 2014, 09.00 a.m. to 05.00 p.m. , plus one hour on 17th or 18th May

The two-day-course trains the student how to perform in a job interview

  • On the first day the usual structure of and requirements in a job interview are presented and recommendations are given how to perform successfully. In small role plays the theory is put into practice.
  • On the second or third day each student will attend a real 'live' simulation of a job interview.

On the first day the whole group works together. On the second/third day individual time slots for the students will be scheduled. Therefore time required for each single student is only the first day (16th May) and about one hour on the second or third day (17th or 18th June) and the maximum number of attendants is limited to sixteen. We ask for a registration by 7th April in order to know whether one or two days for the invidual interviews are needed.

Time- & Self-Management

Project-Management

With rapid change being the by-word of today's business environment more and more work is becoming project-based. Leading and managing projects is a critical skill set.
A project is a temporary and one-time endeavor undertaken to create a unique product or service or frequently to solve a particular problem.
The frist challenge of project management is ensuring that a project is delivered on time and within budget. The second, more ambitious, challenge is to optimally allocate and integrate the various inouts needed to meet the pre-defined objectives.
An efficient project management makes the difference between success and failure in business.
