OSA Foundation Siegman International School on Lasers 2017

August 6-11, 2017
Centro de Investigaciones en Óptica (CIO), Leon, Mexico

The Siegman International School is a week-long program that exposes students to in-depth learning of lasers and their applications from internationally recognized academic and industry leaders in the field.  The scope includes all aspects of lasers and photonics. Each summer, The Siegman International School on Lasers invites up to 100 graduate and phD students for a week-long program to learn from pioneering laser researchers and experts from leading laser companies, highly-regarded professors and fellow students. Attendees are asked to present their own research, which provides invaluable experience in building exposure for their work.

The application to attend the 2017 school is open and the deadline to apply is 15 March 2017.

Participation at the school will be considered as participation of a SAOT Academy. Therefore you can earn 4 SAOT credit points.

The tuition fee is $900 USD. SAOT is going to take over the tuition fee for some regular* SAOT doctoral candidates, if they are not behind the SAOT credit point system's expectations.

If you want to join on SAOT's expenses, please send via email a short recommendation letter by your supervising Principal Investigator, such as it will be required anyway for the final application at the organizing committee of the Siegman School. You then will be informed before the end of February whether or not SAOT is going to take over the costs for you.

We have gathered a list of internationally known experts with complementary backgrounds in the theoretical and experimental aspects of QNLO. Along a steep learning curve, the invited experts will present a span of lectures from basic concepts to cutting edge research. The school therefore offers high-level and intense training of the foundations and current frontiers in QNLO with strong focus on quantum information and metrology.

The summer school is intended to advanced graduate students with a basic background knowledge in quantum and non-linear optics. The number of participants is restricted to 60.
