Living and studying in Germany

BBC Make me a German

This BBC documentary from 2013 provides a very accurate delineation of 'average' German daily life. It shows a high level of empathy for what drives Germany as a country and 'average' Germans. It is of particular interest for prospective students of the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg as it is set in Nürnberg (and you can see the central place of Erlangen at 0:33 of the first part).

Although one always have to consider, that such a documentary will use some cliches and simplify things, many observations are very to the point and get to the button of German culture and life.

Student observer have to keep in mind, that the 'average' German is rather about 40 years old and not in a student's age, so the feature does not necessarily describe the life of German University students but their family background and the expectations international students might meet from 'average' Germans when they come to study here.
